Apologies for the recent lull in writing. One project keeping me busy was writing an article for the University of Liverpool’s Journal of Beatles Studies. The open access article is now published: ‘Used as propaganda’: the Beatles’ Greek island plans and international politics.
It discusses topics including the Greek junta’s concerns about its image abroad, evidence for the activity of Greek tourism officials and Alexis Mardas, and Francis Noel-Baker’s recommendation of visits to Greece by ‘British personalities’.
I’m looking forward to reading the other articles in the issue, including a quantitative analysis of Beatles songs and a review of Beatles podcasts.
I also recently wrote about the Beatles’ visit to Greece for Greek Reporter, and spoke to Plastic EP’s Youtube channel.
More posts coming soon!
Congratulations and well deserved! I've been very much enjoying reading this series and I appreciate the effort and commitment you've put into expanding knowledge of one of the (many many) blank spots in the narrative. As someone looking to do the same in other areas, I appreciate your work.
